On July 14th the FCC met and gave expected approval to fifth generation (5G) wireless technologies by opening up for development with minimal restrictions, higher frequency bandwidths know as millimeter waves. Millimeter waves (only millimeters between frequency peaks) can cram in a lot of data and energy in a short space but have minimal penetration.
Olga Sheean a former employee of the World Health Organization in Geneva and now a resident of Vancouver, has written a wonderfully articulate and passionate letter to Gregor Robertson, Mayor of that city, about electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) and the dangers of WiFi proliferation. An excerpt follows and the complete letter can be read here. Our
The following comments are from Dr. Joel Moskowitz, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Family and Community Health, School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley and posted on his website at: http://www.saferemr.com/ . The entire report is linked here. Thirty of 540 (5.5%), or one in 18 male rats exposed to cell phone radiation developed cancer. No
The cell phone cancer controversy will never be the same again. Today Microwave News released an exclusive story http://microwavenews.com/news-center/ntp-cancer-results on the upcoming announcement that rats in a National Toxicology Program study exposed to cell phone radiation developed tumors of the brain and heart. This is the same radio frequency radiation the World Health Organization classified
Your smart meter isn’t necessarily safe or healthy: Maine lives are at risk from the noncancer effects of smart meter-induced radiofrequency radiation. Portland Press Herald: Maine Voices: Read this 3/28/16 opinion piece by Ed Friedman
Environmental Health Trust is the only nonprofit in the world today that both carries out high-level critical research on controllable environmental health hazards like microwave radiation and works directly with local communities, teachers, parents and students as well as policy makers to understand and mitigate these hazards through research, education and advocacy. EHT has just
Speaking of research references another great source is the EMF-Portal in Germany: http://www.emf-portal.de/motivation.php?l=e The internet information platform EMF-Portal of the RWTH Aachen University summarizes systematically scientific research data on the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF). Interested citizens, decision makers and opinion leaders, such as doctors, lawyers and politicians, can find all the information in both
A big problem even from people who believe RFR causes health effects is common use of the phrase ‘no evidence of health risk is not the same as saying they are safe [whether smart meters or cell phones].’ While the phrase on its face is obviously true, in the case and context of RFR exposure
A February 7, 2014 letter from the Department of the Interior (of which US Fish & Wildlife Service is a part) to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (part of the Department of Commerce) notes: The placement and operation of communication towers, including un-guyed, unlit, monopole or lattice-designed structures, impact protected migratory birds in two
On June 22, 2015 the Commonwealth Club of California hosted an Expert Forum on Children & Cell Phones/WiFi. The event was organized in large part by http://electromagnetichealth.org/ and the Environmental Health Trust http://ehtrust.org/ . This was the fifth presentation on RF/EMF the Club has offered and besides effects on children, the June program had presentations
In 2011 India’s Ministry of Environment and Forest released their Report on Possible Impacts of Communication Towers on Wildlife Including Birds and Bees. The Ministry reviewed 919 studies and while their mandate was to report back on birds and bees, the report touches on other wildlife as well. The study is here. The histogram excerpted
This important review covers experimental data on oxidative effects of low-intensity radiofrequency radiation (RFR) in living cells. Analysis of the currently available peer-reviewed scientific literature reveals molecular effects induced by low-intensity RFR in living cells; this includes significant activation of key pathways generating reactive oxygen species (ROS), activation of peroxidation, oxidative damage of DNA and
In May of 2015 there was an important conference in Paris on Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity or EHS. This article from MaLe de la Maison Saine provides an excellent summary. Click to read article. Also provided is original article link here: https://maisonsaine.ca/english/electrohypersensitivity-conference-debunks-nocebo-effect-theory.html
Steve Weller recently delivered this EHS presentation to Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) scientists, industry and government health department representatives at a EMERG committee meeting (May 20th) in which he is a public representative. The Electromagnetic Energy Reference Group (EMERG) was established by ARPANSA to enable input from the community and other
Top (10) key scientific publications (all but Bann, et al 2011 published after the WHO decision to list RF as a Class 2B possible human carcinogen) which support requiring health warning labeling on cell phones. Abstracts are included. Posted by Canadians for Safe Technology- www.c4st.org January 19, 2015. Click here for the document
This excellent summary of EHS provides background, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment guidelines in 7 pages. The remaining 72 pages are an index of references typically in the form of author citation and abstract as well as a web link if available. This provides an excellent tool for physicians and regulators unfamiliar with the issue. Click
Kit Weaver of SkyVision Solutions provides on his website www.smartgridawareness.org some of the most thoughtful discussion and analysis of smart meters and smart grid issues to be found on the web. A couple of his embedded charts below provide a taste of the excellent coverage he provides. Check it out.
Marg Friesen from Safer Wireless Manitoba has supplied us with two excellent research references. She is an entomologist and mostly retired biologist formerly with Canada’s Department of Fisheries & Oceans. Fittingly the review paper lists published works dealing with the effects of wireless radiation on a variety of wildlife but mostly insects [link here]. Her
There are literally thousands of research studies on the impacts of EMF/ RFR. The National Association for Children and Safe Technology offers valuable information as you start your journey of understanding this issue. “Will we look back (sadly) in fifty or a hundred years and marvel at how Wi-Fi and cellphones were responsible for the biggest health crisis in human history?” Most parents would be concerned if their children had significant exposure to lead, chloroform, gasoline fumes, or the pesticide DDT. The International Agency for Research on Cancer
